2011 Conference Set for Osgoode Hall on Sept. 24

After the success of our inaugural 2010 conference, the Association for Canadian Clinical Legal Education will be holding its second annual conference on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Osgoode Hall Law School starting at 9:00 AM.

Our featured speakers will be:
Nathalie Des Rosiers, the General Counsel of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and former Dean of Law at the University of Ottawa (Civil Law Section).

Our conference is being held in conjunction an Osgoode Hall symposium on Friday, September 23 entitled Poverty Law, Access to Justice, and Ethical Lawyering: Celebrating 40 years of Clinical Education at Osgoode Hall Law School.

Student Bursaries
We urge each law school to send one student to our conference. Bursaries are available thanks to the generosity of the Law Foundation of Ontario. The amounts available will be commensurate with distance travelled and the number of students attending. Please e-mail dfergus@uwo.ca for details.

Why Is This Debate Important?
Legal education in Canada has not changed significantly for the past century.  Isn’t it time that we had a hard look at legal education and debate what changes should be made to create the best lawyers in the 21st century?
