Sponsors

Obligations VI is supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council. Western Law is also pleased to announce the following sponsoring firms.

Dinner Sponsors

The conference dinners will be sponsored by two leading, full-service national law firms: Borden Ladner Gervais LLP and McCarthy Tétrault LLP. BLG focuses on business law, commercial litigation and intellectual property solutions, with more than 750 lawyers and other professionals in six Canadian cities. McCarthy Tétrault delivers integrated services in business law, litigation, tax law, real property law, and labour and employment law nationally and globally through offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montréal and Québec City, as well as London, England.

Reception Sponsors

The two receptions will be sponsored by Hart Publishing Inc. and by Carswell, a division of Thomson Reuters Canada Limited.  Hart Publishing Inc. is based in Oxford and is the largest independent academic law publisher in the United Kingdom, with over 750 titles in print.  Carswell has been providing Canadian professionals with quality information resources since 1864, and it was named as one of Canada’s 50 Best Employers by The Globe and Mail’s Report on Business magazine in 2004, 2005 and 2006.

Lunch Sponsors

The three conference lunches will be sponsored by three of London’s leading law firms.  One is Cohen Highley LLP, founded in 1974 with offices in London and Sarnia.  It prides itself on a tradition of legal excellence and its commitment to the community.  The second is Lerners LLP, founded in 1929 with offices in London and Toronto.  It is one of the largest law firms in Ontario and its Toronto office has been consistently ranked as one of the province’s top litigation boutiques. The third is McKenzie Lake LLP, a leading southwestern Ontario law firm with both strong traditions and fresh ideas in each of its selected areas of expertise. Its practice areas range from specialized public infrastructure projects to the largest family law department in the region.

Each of the firms will have representatives attending the conference, and the two publishers will have their works on display for inspection and purchase.

All of these seven firms have strong connections to Western Law.  Without the support of firms like these, Western Law would be unable to host international conferences like Obligations VI and to continue to build its reputation for excellence in private law.
