For a current listing of course titles, please view the Course Offerings Chart on the main Faculty of Law website. Our academic year consists of a Fall Term from September to December and a Winter Term from January to April. The winter term consists of a four-week January term and a 10 week Spring Term which runs from February to April. Professors evaluate student performance through a combination of exams, tests, essays, group assignments, presentations, and class participation. All lectures are conducted in English and, therefore, students must have a sufficient level of English to participate in the exchange. Exchange students for whom English is a second language may be given extra time to write examinations. Some courses, such as Trusts and Restitution, may not be appropriate for students who do not have a common law background. Others, such as Income Taxation, may be too specifically focused on Canadian law to be of benefit to exchange students. --- Agnes Sin Hang Chan, visiting student from the University of Hong Kong for Fall term 2010
Course Offerings
Academic Terms
The January term courses cover a broad range of substantive topics, methods of instruction, and modes of assessment. They usually involve a major writing or other active skills component. Since the class sizes are restricted to 25 students, students have the opportunity to learn in an intensive environment that provides one-on-one supervision.Evaluation
The faculty uses a system of "blind marking" - numbers are the only form of identification used on exam papers - to ensure that grades are assessed impartially.
