Areas of Concentration

Western has been a national leader among law schools in Canada through the Areas of Concentration. The Areas of Concentration enable students to combine the breadth of the core curriculum with real depth in a particular subject area. Students who complete an Area of Concentration will have this noted on their transcripts. At present, we offer two Areas of Concentration: Business Law, and Intellectual Property, Information and Technology Law.

Combined Degree Programs

Combined Degree Programs can increase your marketability. Western Law has two joint programs with the Richard Ivey School of Business, one of the top-ranked business schools in the world. The JD/MBA program and the HBA/JD program are limited-enrolment programs designed for those who envision a career in areas in which business and law interact.  In addition, Western Law offers other combined programs, which allow students to complete the two degrees in six years.

LL.M Program

Master the art of legal scholarship with our LL.M Program. A year-long thesis-based program, the Masters program is designed to develop academic research and presentation skills, and to produce a thesis of publishable quality.  Faculty strengths include Business Law and Taxation; Intellectual Property, Information and Technology Law; and International, Foreign and Comparative Law.

MSL Program

Our Master of Studies in Law (MSL) program is a research based program for students who wish to gain an understanding of law in general and the Canadian legal system in particular. The Master of Legal Studies is for students with a degree in another discipline, or foreign students with a non-Canadian law degree that is not equivalent to our JD/LLB degree.
