On Monday September 24 Western Law hosted a debate on the upcoming referendum on electoral reform in Ontario. The public forum drew a full house to Western Law's moot court room. An expert panel provided a lively debate on the pros and cons on the new Mixed Member Proportional (MMP) system proposed by the Citizens' Assembly. Debating the advantages of the new system were Prof. Laura Stephenson, an Assistant Professor of Political Science at The University of Western Ontario and Paul Barker, a Professor of Political Science at Brescia University College. Making the arguments against the proposed system were Prof. Peter Woolstencroft, a Professor of Canadian and comparative politics at The University of Waterloo and Grant Huscroft, a Professor of Law and associate Dean at Western Law. Jennifer Hall from A Channel News was the moderator of the evening's debate.
