Q.

I need help with: divorce, custody, child support, spousal support, or separation agreement.

A.

We do not assist with any family law issues.
You can contact the Family Law Information Centre at the London Courthouse at 519-660-3001, the Ministry of Attorney General webpage, the CLEO Family Resource document, or the Lawyer Referral Service at 1-800-268-8326 for assistance.

Q.

I am being evicted and need help now.

A.

You need to contact Neighbourhood Legal Services at 519-438-2890. Evictions are a rush matter and because we are a student legal clinic there is always a wait time for an appointment.

Q.

I got a speeding ticket.

A.

We do not help with speeding tickets unless you stand to lose six points or more.

Q.

I have court/a legal problem in Toronto/ Windsor/Kitchener and need help.

A.

We only deal with issues in the London Area.
You can check CLEO for information on free legal assistance in your area.

Q.

I would like to hire a law student to help me with a court matter.

A.

You may not hire a student. They may handle legal issues only in the clinic under the supervision of a lawyer.

Q.

I need a will/power of attorney, can you do it for me.

A.

We only do wills and powers of attorney for seniors and those or who may be disabled or seriously ill as long as they pass a financial means test.

Q.

I just bought/sold a house, do you assist with real estate?

A.

We do not assist with real estate. You should contact the Lawyer Referral Service.

Q.

I am going to court tomorrow can someone from your office come with me?

A.

We are unable to accompany anyone but a client to court.
You may make an appointment with our office, however, this may take anywhere from several days to several weeks.
You should attend the courthouse on the day of your appearance and approach Duty Counsel to assist you in adjourning your case to a later date.

Q.

I want to get my Permanent Resident card, do you help with immigration issues?

A.

We provide immigration assistance to UWO students and post doctoral fellows only.

Where are you? How do we get there?

A.

We are at University of Western Ontario, Faculty of Law, Community Legal Services, 1151 Richmond Street, Law Building Room 120 in London, ON.
We are on the Northwest corner of Western Road and Lambton Drive.
