Coming to Western Law on Exchange

Western Law prides itself on achieving a sense of community.  All students are encouraged to participate in recreational athletics, law school pub nights and formal events. We welcome our new exchange students warmly and appreciate the individual views they bring to our classrooms.  Each visiting student is paired with a Western Law student "exchange buddy" in order to help them with anything that arises.

Explore our program through this website and contact your school about applying.

About Western Law

Western's Faculty of Law is housed in the handsome, stone-clad Josephine Spencer Niblett Building, offering classrooms, a library, computer lab, lounges, and food services. The law building is just steps from the heart of Western's campus with access to a wide range of facilities and services.

Our Faculty

Our faculty boasts expertise in corporate law, international criminal justice, tax law and policy, intellectual property and constitutional law and judicial review among other areas, and have national and international reputations. They push our students to think critically, teach them to argue cogently and instill a solid understanding of the law.

Complementing this remarkable group of full-time professors is a distinguished group of lawyers who, as part-time faculty members, teach courses within their specialties, adding their perspectives as practitioners to the classroom.

The Law Library

The Faculty's Law library, which is staffed by dedicated people with strong research skills, features a collection of more than 200,000 volumes and microforms. The student computer lab holds 42 high-powered work stations, with an additional 40 work stations located throughout the library. In addition to word processing, email and web-surfing capabilities, each work station has access to Quicklaw, the main computerized legal research tool in Canada. Our facilities also include a wireless network for students to access in our building as well as many other areas around campus.

"Exchange allowed me many opportunities to experience things I wouldn’t have in Singapore, to feel the possibilities that life offers. Although I’ve travelled widely, living in a country allows one to develop a knowledge and fondness of the culture unavailable by visiting it briefly. The biggest regret of my exchange experience was not opting got a full year."
