Shillingtons LLP Renews Sponsorship of TLRG Public Lecture Series

Western Law and the Tort Law Research Group (TLRG) are delighted that the London law firm of Shillingtons LLP has renewed its sponsorship of the TLRG Public Lecture series for the 2019-20 academic year.

Shillingtons LLP, led by veteran litigator Terry Shillington, is a leading provider of insurance-related legal services to Ontario property and casualty insurers. It was founded in 1998 on the premise that a specialized practice could provide high quality legal services at a lower cost to the firm’s clients. That philosophy continues to guide the firm.

“We are grateful that Shillingtons LLP has decided to continue this support,” said TLRG Co-Director Zoë Sinel. “These lectures expose the Western Law community, and in particular our students, to leading ideas about where tort law is heading in the coming decades. They provoke and inspire.”

Two public lectures will be held in the 2019-20 academic year. Hanoch Dagan, the Stewart and Judy Colton Professor of Legal Theory and Innovation and the Director of the Edmond J. Safra Center for Ethics at Tel-Aviv University, will deliver the fall term lecture. The winter term lecture will be delivered by Bruce Feldthusen, Professor and former Dean at the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa. Both are highly accomplished scholars.

Previous speakers in the series include a “who’s who” of leading tort academics and appellate court judges.

The TLRG was founded in 2010 to consolidate Western's reputation as a leader in the study of tort law. Western has a long tradition of tort law scholarship. Currently members of the TLRG co-author a leading casebook, Cases and Materials on the Law of Torts (published in July 2019), a leading treatise, The Law of Torts in Canada (to be published fall 2020) and a leading student guide, Introduction to the Canadian Law of Torts (to be published in July 2020).
