CPDO Resources for Employers

Welcome to Western Law’s Career & Professional Development Office (“CPDO”) where our goal and hope is to connect employers with both students and our office.

The CPDO runs a number of events throughout the year to assist students in their career planning, including:

  • an annual Career Conference (upcoming March 6, 2012 at the Hilton in London, ON);  and,
  • an On Campus Interview (OCI) program (upcoming September 25, 2012).

For more information about these and other CPDO programs please contact Natalie Samuel, the CPDO Assistant at nsamuel3@uwo.ca.

Another way that employers can connect with Western Law students is through the CPDO, Career Services Management (CSM) program called “Symplicity”.

What is Symplicity?

Symplicity is an online career management program that our students use as one of their primary sources for career-related information including events and job opportunities. Symplicity allows employers to keep informed about events/sessions at the school, post jobs, manage their firm/organization’s profile and much more.

How do I use Symplicity?

The CPDO has created the CPDO-Employer Introduction to Symplicity (pdf), which will help you to navigate through Symplicity.

Benefits of using Symplicity

  • Since Symplicity is one of the first resources students look to when embarking on their employment search, registering your firm/organization on Symplicity will increase your profile on campus (Note: It is vital that employers complete their profile upon signing up in Symplicity; as your profile is linked to a number of student search features that students’ can use when seeking information about various employers.)
  • The program is simple to use and access is free to all employers
  • Employers can easily upload new and modify existing job postings for summer, articling, associate and contract positions
  • Employers have the option of requesting an online packet of applications which will be emailed to them at the close of the job posting
  • Employers participating in our annual On Campus Interview (OCI) Program can review their interview schedules
  • Employers can stay connected and keep apprised of what is happening in the CPDO
