Prospective Students
Academic excellence is at the heart of Western Law and it starts with our professors. Western Law is proud of the fact that it is among those Canadian law schools having the largest proportion of faculty with earned doctorates. Western’s full-time faculty members are exceptional classroom teachers, have won prestigious teaching awards, provide expert opinions to the media, and have received national and international recognition for their research. Western Law’s professors push students to think critically, teach them to argue cogently and instill in them a solid understanding of the law.
Western Law's professional administrative staff offer services and support in a variety of areas including career and professional development, academic counselling, promotion and publicity of events and achievements, financial aid information and exchange opportunites.
A World of Opportunity
We value and embrace the international experience. Our extensive exchange program and international law internship programs provide students with an enhanced international perspective and a keen understanding of the rule of law outside our borders.
Make a Difference
Western Law offers students numerous opportunities to develop practical skills and gain valuable “hands-on” experience. Our Community Legal Services (CLS) clinic and Pro Bono program offers students an opportunity to hone their practical skills while providing a much needed service to the community. Through this practical experience, students gain an advantage when seeking articling positions after graduation. The Western Business Law Clinic provides small start-up and early stage businesses with affordable legal counsel, while at the same time creating an environment for students to learn invaluable practical skills. The student-run Sport Solution Clinic provides much needed assistance to Canadian amateur athletes in resolving sports-related legal issues.Supporting Your Success
A Western Law degree opens the doors to both a traditional practice and a host of other career options around the world. Please visit our Career and Professional Development website for more information on how Western Law can help you realize your career aspirations.
The Faculty of Law is strongly committed to excellence and diversity. While the Faculty believes that excellence in academic studies is the best evidence of ability to succeed in the study of law, it also believes that achievements in other areas may indicate potential for success in legal studies. Accordingly, our application policies allow applicants to show their potential in various ways, and are designed to produce a mix of students with diverse experience.
